Banyan Tree Gallery works with 17 distinct traditional craft techniques. Each one reflects generations of knowledge, artistry, and cultural identity. By preserving these practices and celebrating regional craftsmanship, we help keep heritage traditions alive for future generations.
A LEGACY OF CRAFT. A FUTURE OF PURPOSE.
Banyan Tree Gallery was founded on the belief that commerce can be a force for positive impact, creating meaningful experiences for our guests while sustaining livelihoods, preserving cultural heritage, and contributing to a more responsible future.
For over three decades, we have partnered artisan communities around the world to preserve heritage craftsmanship, create sustainable livelihoods, and bring timeless traditions into contemporary life. What began as a small initiative has grown into a global ecosystem of purposeful commerce. Today, Banyan Tree Gallery has commissioned more than 1.2 million products, supported 339 artisan communities, and collaborated with 240 non-profit organisations to create lasting social impact.
Yet our story has never been measured by scale alone.
Behind every creation is a human story. Knowledge passed from one generation to the next. A tradition preserved. A livelihood strengthened. A community empowered.
We believe true luxury lies not in what we bring home, but in the meaning, connection, and positive impact it creates.
Today, Banyan Tree Gallery continues to bridge cultures, communities, and craftsmanship through products inspired by wellbeing, heritage, and the beauty of purposeful living.
This is our commitment. This is our legacy. This is the spirit of Banyan Tree Gallery.
Thank you for being part of our journey.

HOW WE BEGAN
Banyan Tree Gallery began with a simple purchase and a powerful idea.
In 1989, our founder, Claire Chiang, met women artisans from Yasothon village in Northeast Thailand. Learning that the purchase of just two handcrafted Maun cushions could help support local families, she was inspired to commission 500 cushions for Laguna Phuket resort.
That decision became the first thread in a much larger story, one that connected craft with community, culture with commerce, and tradition with opportunity.
More than three decades later, Banyan Tree Gallery remains committed to preserving heritage craftsmanship, strengthening artisan livelihoods, and celebrating the enduring value of craft.
